Complete Control Radio Wishes You A Very Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Punkers! What is up? All is well here in Los Angeles at the Complete Control HQ. Since I will be heading to Northern California for Turkey Day I decided to run the show when Casey Royer ( D.I./Adolescents) was my guest. If you missed this show back in June, you have to check it out. Casey was out of his tree that night - one of the best guests I have ever had - very funny and very random.

Lastly, if you are in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 8th (and 21 years of age or older!) be sure to head down to The Scene in Glendale for the end of the year party we are having - details to follow soon!

Complete Control Is Spinning Some New Lagwagon Tonight

The rain is here! People in Southern California freak when it rains! The news does stories about the "rain" ,the radio will interview people about the "rain". Maybe I will ask people what punk bands they like to listen to when it is raining?

Tonight on Complete Control: new music from Lagwagon. Their new record Resolve came out about a week ago and my freinds at Fat Wreck Chords sent me down a copy. Lagwagon is hitting the road starting tomorrow in Portland and will be here in LA at The Avalon on November 25th. Good times! Also, Rafe, the editor-in-chief-head-honcho at Big Wheel Magazine will be stopping in!

Lastly, I got a million emails in response to my question about, "Who was your 'gateway band' into Punk Rock?" Thanks for all the emails and here was a reply that I thought was cool --

"Social Distortion was definitely my gateway band. When I heard Mommy’s Little Monster – with the ringing guitars and swirling chaos of 'Telling Them' and the title track – I was hooked for life. From there I discovered other SoCal punk bands – Bad Religion, The Germs, Black Flag, etc - which created a mental image of a Southern California punk rock paradise in my mind. Living on the east coast (Washington DC) and having Minor Threat and Fugazi shoved down my throat (not that they’re bad, they’re just not exactly what I was feeling) I used to dream of moving to Los Angeles and seeing these bands (or the ones that remained active) live in their hometowns. So after a few years in DC and Miami, I said fuck it and moved to LA basically to enjoy the SoCal punk scene and I’m still here. And even today, I love the fact that SD still does a dozen or so SoCal shows at the end of the year and I know when I go, those opening chords to 'MLM' will still send shivers up my spine."

Thursday Nights on Indie 103.1 - Complete Control Radio!

What up Punkers!!!

I hope all of you had a GREAT Halloween. I know I did!

No guests tonight. Just 2 hours of PUNK ROCK.

Question: Who was the band that got you into Punk Rock? For me it was The Ramones. When I was twelve, I watched Rock and Roll High School almost 20 times before someone told me that The Ramones were a band and not actors!! After that I was hooked. The Ramones were the "gateway" band for me. Who was yours? Get me some good ones and I will post them.
